Vince, Ääni Magazine: American tour behind, what is left?
Archie: Horrible hangover! But this Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) was the biggest thing of course. Also Rock on the Range festival where we played was the second biggest high light.
Johnny: And from the tour I’d pick up the gig in Calgary.
A: And Philadelphia too because I got to climb up in there so nicely.
V: I understand the climbing part, but what was cool in the Calgary gig?
J: There was just fucking good action! And probably the most of our fans in the whole tour.
Middy: The best thing was that there was this guy who had tattooed our lyrics in his skin and he had wrong lyrics! Otherwise it went pretty well…
V: Think you should change the lyrics now? Sing with the wrong lyrics?
M: No, we’re not posting it to Facebook.
A: We’re always posting our fan tattoos on Facebook, but that one we haven’t posted. If we’d do that people would comment there.
M: Yeah, we have to protect our fans!
V: When you are doing one of those collection albums to Japan you can record the song with alternative lyrics, then you can post it on Facebook.
A: Definitely!
V: What can we expect today in South Part Festival? Guess it is pretty well polished set at the moment.
A: Yeah, but at the moment there’s this funny thing that on tour we played 30 mins gigs, yesterday (in Nosturi, Helsinki) we played an hour and 15 mins and today it’s in between, 45 minutes. So let’s see! Summer festival songs of course, a couple of slow songs…
M: And a couple of fast songs.
A: …Some waltzes too! And some mid-tempos too.
V: Aren’t you supposed to play humppa (Finnish music genre) in summer?
A: That’s true! And everyone who has any self-respect playes three sets: first waltzes, tangos and then some humppa…
M: And then there’s some asked songs too.
A: And some rock’n’roll! Chuck Berry and Get On.
M: Three times!
V: That is how you make money.
M: You should know that!
V: Is this your first festival on this year in Finland?
J: Yeah, first one in Finland!
V: What is after this one?
A: On next week we have Picnic-rock in Kouvola
V: Do not have to remember all of them.
A: Something where we play with The 69 Eyes and Reckless Love. Then there’s Ruisrock, Qstock, Ilosaari…
M: A bit bigger picnics!
A: …Kotkan meripäivät and Nummirock and…
M: The Scorpions!
A: Yeah, we’re playing with Scorpions in Pietarsaari or somewhere.
V: When the summer festivals are over what is coming up? Now you are going probably a bit eyes closed full ahead.
M: Eyes closed since 2007! Straight to a wall.
A: The same goes on, drinking some booze and staying inside four walls until there’s a gig again.
V: But are you having any break or are you going straight to a studio or what?
Santa Cruz: Nothing like that.
A: No, we’re not going to a studio ever again, not for a while at least! Trying to get some kind of US tour for the fall.
J: And touring in Finland in the fall too!
V: So we are seeing you on the road.
A: Yeah, there’s some published days for Finland for the fall. And I’m going to Japan for the first time ever with The Local-band and it’ll be fucking awesome!
M: We’re finally getting rid of him!
V: Finally, let’s go for a beer!
M: Let’s go!
V: Hey, but you’re starting your sound check soon, so I’m letting you go…
A: A big hug! *hugs Vince*
V: Wonderful to see you every time you are coming here. Let’s talk next time you are coming to Tampere.
